Ever wondered what Google does apart from being a search engine?
Google is the number one search engine in the world and is way ahead than other Search engines like bing, yahoo and others. This is because with being a search engines Google provides a marketing platform to people who have their online presence (i.e. a website or e-business) and its called Google Marketing Platform. It's a cross channel solution for all marketing from introducing your product or service to the world in the form of Advertising and then measuring your reach and data analysis of your performance with the help of Analytics service, all in one place to understand how the customer behaves when he visits our webpage.
From all the services provided by Google, I would like to talk about Google Analytics.
Google Analytics is a service provided by Google to Measure, Report and Analyze the behaviour of the visitor/viewers of your webpages. Google Analytics provides us with an HTML code which we put on each page of our website in the background. Which cannot be seen by the visitor on the website. So with this code, Google Analytics monitors the activity of the Visitor on our website.
For Example, a customer visits his favourite brand ZARA to just view the new collection for this Fall. Now ZARA has connected the Google Analytics with their website, but the customer never gets to see an HTML code on the website. So, ZARA gets all the information about what we searched on their pages, how much time we spent looking at the product, what features we saw about the product. Not only this basic information but also they get to know from where did we come from to their page (through which source or link), which platform we used (Windows o Mac), which device we used(Laptop, Cellphone, or Tablet), our Gender.
After it has measured all the data, It reports(makes readable data in numbers and makes charts) and does analysis automatically and also provides the facility to customize the analysis according to the company's needs. Analysis answers your custom questions. Every company uses their data according to their needs.
Google Analytics also tells about where the traffic(visitors) come from, where are they leading to after coming on website, how time they stay on which page, what links they click, do they put some products in their cart, and do they buy it. Google Analytics also tells about the bounce rate of the visitors and which part of the webpage did they visitor bounce back, those parts could be improved as at the very earliest.
Ultimately, we realize that having a website but not using Google Analytics for it is like, you are running in a relay race with a blindfold on your eyes (aim to win, but directionless).
